NEWS RELEASE FOR THE REXBURG TABERNACLE ORCHESTRA CONCERT:  

Chamber Ensembles for Thursday, April 30, 7:30 pm in the Romance Theater on Main Street.  Free of Charge

This spring season will offer delightful chamber music from members of the Rexburg Tabernacle Orchestra as they present small ensemble music of strings, woodwinds and brass groupings.  The free concert will be held in the Romance Theater, at the usual time of 7:30pm, while the Tabernacle is being remodeled.

One highlight of the program will feature Natalie Blackburn, long time member of the RTO,  soloing in a concerto for violin and strings, by composer Eric Ewazen, an American composer.

Audience members will  also enjoy a piece by Malcolm Arnold, 20th century British composer,  presented by a wind ensemble;  a larger string ensemble will perform  “Serenade for Strings”, by Antonin Dvorak. The brass group, Targhee Brass, who performs frequently at community events, will be a part of the evening’s program as well.

Families with children over 6-years of age are encouraged to attend for the cultural benefits of this musical opportunity.

The Rexburg Tabernacle Orchestra, an all-volunteer community orchestra, had its premiere performance in June of 2004 and continues to offer three concerts per season, free of charge for the enjoyment and educational value of the upper valley residents.  The city of Rexburg and Rexburg Cultural Arts are sponsors, with Stone’s Toyota also joining with their financial support of this community gem.

The Romance Theater and the South wing hallway of City Hall both have temporary art gallery exhibits featuring local artists from Rexburg and the surrounding areas.
