Winter Holiday Safety

Fire is one of the largest risks of holiday-related hazards. Live trees should be kept for no longer than 30 days and need to be watered regularly. Candles also create risks of home fires, be sure to keep flames 3 feet away from all flammable materials and out of reach of pets and children. Additionally, electrical fires and cooking fires are common during the holiday season. Fourth of July/Pioneer Day Safety

The Fourth of July, each year, lights the sky with colorful displays all across Rexburg and Eastern Idaho. While residents are encouraged to leave the fireworks to the professionals each year, the State of Idaho does allow for a brief period of low-grade firework usage for residents the week before and the week after the Fourth. Each year, fire and medical emergencies are the result of careless or inexperienced persons lighting off these displays. Before use, prepare the area, ensure you have the proper resources on hand, and secure children and pets safely away from "danger zones".
