Mayor's Message

Happy New Year! The new year is here as well as our first good snow.

This is a time to ponder, a time for reviewing the past, and a time to set goals for the future. As I review the last two years as your city councilman and currently your mayor, I find myself much more aware and appreciative of the quality of life that we enjoy in Rexburg. I will certainly miss the wisdom and sound advice of prior councilmen Randy Schwendiman and Bart Stevens.

Most people are not aware of the time these fine men spent on behalf of the citizens of Rexburg. Four years of late night meetings, early morning meetings, special review committee meetings, advisory committee meetings, and on and on. We owe them a big thank you!

We welcome two new elected council members, Bruce Sutherland and Donna Benfield as well as recently appointed Councilman Brad Egbert. We all look forward to serving with each of them. They come with a great deal of prior service in city government. It won’t be long before we become a team, we’ll not agree on all things; however, that is as it should be. The well being of Rexburg citizens will always be paramount in our deliberations and ultimate decisions.

We all appreciate the opportunity to serve you. May we all enjoy a Happy New Year and may Rexburg continue to prosper.

Thank you all! – Mayor Richard Woodland
