The Sanitation Department is in charge of collecting and disposing of trash throughout the city. Sanitation trucks collect the trash for both residential and commercial places. The department also delivers and maintains the trash receptacles.

All collected trash is transported to the Madison County transfer station located on Airport Road. During a normal month the department will collect 25,000 tons of refuse.

The City of Rexburg has set up a Call 2 Recycle box at City Hall. Please drop off any of your old rechargeable batteries and they will be recycled.

Appropriate Trash Items
Because of the complexity of the sanitation trucks it is important that certain objects that would cause damage to or interfere with the trucks' operation not be placed in the containers. There are also certain materials that have potential environmental harm that should not be placed in the containers, such as lead acid batteries.
