The Community Development Department was created in February of 2008 when the Building Safety and the Planning and Zoning
Departments were combined. The Building Official, Val Christensen, was placed at the head of this new department. The
objective of this change was to improve the customer support of Building Safety and Planning and Zoning, especially
as far as permitting is concerned. Please see the departments below for more specific information.
- Building Safety
Comprised of a Building Official, a Permit Technician, and inspectors that assist with the construction within the city by issuing building permits and inspecting for code compliance.
- Planning and Zoning
Comprised of Planning and Zoning Administrator, Coordinator and the Compliance Officer.
